Day113- 2 Kings 24-25

  1. Jehoiakim becomes the puppet king of Judah, now a Babylonian province, under Nebuchadnezzar. Jehoiakim foolishly rebels and loses his life. Zedekiah now becomes the last Judean king. Zedekiah rebels and Jerusalem is razed. The palace, the temple, and every great house in the city are burned. Many people are exiled to Babylon. Nebuzaradan arrests the ringleaders, takes them to Riblah where they are executed by royal decree. Nebuchadnezza finally dies and is succeeded by his son Evil-merodach who releases the captive Jehoiachin. The ex-king is given an increased living allowance and a great deal of preferential treatment. A year later he is assassinated by Nergal-sharezer.
