Day 111 - 2 Kings 18-20

  1. Hezakiah reigns Judah after the fall of Irael. He institutes religious reform after he rebelled against the king of Assyria. The heavy tribute paid to Sennacherib left Hezehiah his throne and the capital city. Legends, fictional elements, and confused facts describe the Assyrian siege of Jerusalem. In the second account Hezekiah consults Isaiah. Isaiah proclaims in oracles and song that Assyria has mocked Israel's God who long ago planned that Assyria would be punished for her arrogance. When Hezekiah becomes sick Isaiah prays and heals him with a cake of figs. Hezekiah's reign concludes with note of improvements to the Jerusalem water supply, a pool and the conduit.
