Day 32: Leviticus 12-14

Day 32: Leviticus 12-14

  1. In these chapters an AIDS like epedemic afflicts God's people. Leprosy takes its toll and the people of God ponder this affliction as the consequence of some unconscious sin against Yahweh. In looking for a cure they turn to their priests who put folks in isolation and under close scrutiny with superstitions and little practical knowledge of how to overcome the sickness. Instead of looking for a cure, they exclude those who are ill and abandon them as wrongdoers. On a positive note it seems they are weill intentioned in prohibiting the spread of this unknown disease with an unknown cure to other members of their community. Pastoral care has not yet become a course for priesthood.
