This section reminds me of our bout with swine flu. Anointing, taking one's share of booty, has become a term applied to the priests. At the time of Aaron and his two sons the sacrificial laws that dictate how one eats the sacrificial leftovers lead to the death of the two sons. Aaron is now ready to become a vegetarian and refuses to eat the possibly contaminated sacrificial meat. The washing and cleansing is akin to our buying out Walmart's supply of hand sanitizers. They seem to be at wit's end to figure out how to have God tabernacle in their midst.
