Day 174 Psalms 106-108

Day 174 Psalms 106-108

1 comment:

  1. The psalmist reminds the chosen people of their rebellious spirit in spite of God’s goodness on Psalm 106. He prays for the return and restoration of scattered Israel. “Quiet us, O Silent Speaker, that out of still spaces we may hear your Voice;” prays Nan Merrill in this psalm. Psalm 107 recounts in thanksgiving the hand of God in the return from exile. God turns deserts into fertile fields in many ways. In Praying the Psalms Nan Merrill translates, “Yes, attune yourselves to the small still Voice within, stay true to your heart’s Center.” Psalm 107:1-43 paint four pictures; travelers lost in the desert, the gloom of the prison house, the dangerously sick, ships in distress. These are the times when humans of faith cry to the Lord in their trouble. Would that we pray with such great perseverance in these times. Psalm 108 is a compilation of parts of Psalms 57 and 60, a plea for help with confidence that help is on the way. “With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.”
