Day 170 Psalms 85-89

Day 170 Psalms 85-89

1 comment:

  1. “Kindness and truth shall meet; justice and peace shall kiss” should be our daily prayer of Psalm 85. In Psalm 86 the psalmist prays in time of distress. It ends “My home is within you.” Perhaps this is a shift in consciousness when humankind begins to move from the external God to be manipulated to the God pregnant with humanity in Whom we grow. Psalm 87 is a song of Zion, extolling the holy city as the spiritual home of all nations of the earth. In Psalms for Praying Nan Merrill refers to Zion as the City of Light. Where is your City of Light? “Too long have I let fear control me, projecting onto others the demons dwelling within. Let your Love encircle and envelop me; in your mercy raise me up. Let peace become my companion all day long; by night free me from the bonds of fear.” These are contemporary words from Psalm 88 written in Psalms For Praying. The contemporary words of Psalm 89 include “If your children turn their backs and follow not Love’s way, If they oppress the weak and befriend injustice, They will separate themselves from Love, and they will dwell with fear.” Yes, the opposite of love is fear, not hate.
