Day 172 Psalms 96-102

Day 172 Psalms 96-102

  1. Nan Merrill renders the last verse of Psalm 96 with these beautiful words, ”For through Love will come truth and justice, offering all the people gifts of new Life.” Love is the heart math of the soul. Psalm 97 rejoices in putting aside our false idols to recognize the One True Presence. All of nature welcomes the reign of the just Savior with joy in Psalm 98. In Praying The Psalms, Nan Merrill opens Psalm 99 with “Awaken, O you people! Entrust your hearts to Love.” Psalm 100 is a short processional hymn of thanksgiving. “Know that the Beloved of your heart is the Divine Presence!” Psalm 101 states the norm of life for rulers. “Forgive me, O Merciful One, if I turn from those in need. Humble me if I become arrogant and greedy. Embrace me with your Presence.” Psalm 102 prays the prayer of an afflicted one in times of trouble. The psalmist compares himself to a pelican of the wilderness or an owl in the ruins. Is he complaining about a mental or spiritual condition? A pelican frequents beaches and bodies of water. The pelican in the wilderness is a lost bird. Again the psalmist likens himself to a lonely bird on the housetop. Is this a destitute situation? When do you feel like a pelican in the wilderness? Yet, the psalmist finds hope in the Constant One who calls all people to return to the Heart of Love.

  2. HI Cheryl,

I was wondering when the group will be meeting again. I thought it was this coming Sunday but didn't receive an email. What was our final decision?
