Day 156 Psalms 15-18

Day 156 Psalms 15-18

1 comment:

  1. Psalm 15 lists the moral qualities necessary to enter the Lord’s sanctuary; one “who harms not his fellow man, or takes up a reproach against his neighbor….. he who does these things shall never be disturbed.” In psalm 16, after proclaiming his hostility toward the idolaters, the psalmist pledges loyalty to God and is constantly aware of the Presence. “My heart is glad and my soul rejoices….because you will not abandon my soul….you will show me the path to life….” In psalm 17, the psalmist, like Job, proclaims his innocence and appeals to a just God to punish his adversaries. In Psalm 18 God shows up in the earthquake and thunderstorm to deliver the psalmist from the enemy. Surely “the Lord rewarded me according to my justice”. As in the book of Job, we see the old notion of a God, the God of retribution. In Psalm 18:28 “Thou wilt light my candle” is the responsibility of every parent and teacher. May God enkindle and enlighten each one of us, His children.
