Day 155 Psalms 8-14

Day 155 Psalms 8-14

1 comment:

  1. In Psalm 8 the psalmists, while recognizing the littleness of humankind compared to the vastness of creation, recognizes the dignity of humankind as well. He says “You have made him little less than the angels…”. The format of Psalm 9 is a familiar one. The first letter of each stanza originally followed the order of the Hebrew alphabet consecutively, impossible to preserve in translation, of course. The prayers of Psalms 10-12 are as relevant today as then. “You pay heed to the defense of the fatherless and the oppressed, that man, who is of earth, may terrify no more.” Psalm 11 continues. “The Lord searches the just and the wicked; the lover of violence he hates.” Psalm 12. “You, O Lord, will keep us and preserve us always from this generation, While about us the wicked strut and in high places are the basest of men.” What is it about power? In Psalm 13 we see the familiar phrase “How long?” used 4 times. Psalm 14 is a community lament about the total corruption of society. Surely God will have to intervene.
