Day 87 - 2 Samuel 1-3

Day 87 - 2 Samuel 1-3

1 comment:

  1. Saul and Jonathan are dead. David's first reaction is anger against the Amalekite for daring to lay hands on Yahweh's anointed. David, the poet, writes a moving dirge about the loss of Saul and Jonathan with whom he had a covenent of brotherhood. David is anointed king at Hebron. Abner sets up Saul's son Ishbosheth, as puppet king over the Northern tribes. Abner takes one of Saul's concubines, Rizpah, for himself. Ishball upbraids him for it. Abner loses his temper and throws his support from Saul to David. David demands the return of Michal, his wife. Abner is murdered by Joab. David writes a dirge and absolves himself of any guilt in the death of his nephew.
