Day 74: Judges 16-18

Day 74: Judges 16-18

  1. The story of Samson is reminiscent of the legend of the sun hero. Again he is attracted to a Phistine woman, this time, Delilah. He seems very forgetful about religion "he did not know that the Lord had left him". When he remembered to call to the Lord "O Lord God, remember me" he died performing feats of a lifetime. Micah appears in chapter 17 at a time "when there was no king in Israel". Micah installs a Levite priest in his house. Again, the writer mentions "there was no king in Israel". Is this a good thing? Probably not. We see mention over and over again of "the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image". Does not sound like a Yawist! "so they set up Micah's graven image, which he made, as long as the house of God was at Shiloh".
