24:18"And Moses entered the cloud..." Humans are now in the Presence right here on earth. And, now an earthly Presence demands the building of the ark of the covenant. It is interesting that these nomadic people has access to gold and bronze. 25:21 ".. in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you.' 25:22 "There I will meet with you..." This motivates me to create a sacred space, build an altar, and know that Yahweh will meet me there. After the Hebrews build the tabernacle they make a veil. 26:33 "and the veil shall separate for you the holy place from the most holy." God seems to be getting closer than the air that I breathe. Lastly the Hebrews build an altar and bring a lamp. 27:20 "a lamp may be set up to burn continually." I am reminded of the grave of John F. Kennedy and the Olympic torch. I remember how I loved to light the votive candles at church when I was a kid. The nuns taught me that the prayer that I said upon lighting a candle continued to be prayed as long as the candle burned.
