Day 17: Exodus 1-4

Day 17: Exodus 1-4

1 comment:

  1. 1:12 "But the more the were oppressed, the more they multiplied.." Even in the midst of oppression God's promise to Abraham was carried out.
1:22 "Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, Every son that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile..." The reader knows that even Pharaoh is playing into God's plan.
2:7 "Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women.." As usual the women are the resourceful ones!
2:24 "and God remembered his covenant..." We know now that Moses is about to have a close encounter and we hear the familiar words again
3:4 "Here am I." Just as Jacob encountered The Presence, Moses, too, stopped, paid attention to the burning bush, and
3:5 "you are standing on holy ground..."
Then we read the familiar lines
3:13 "I am Who I am." God is Consciousness. God is the Ground of Being. God is Beingness.
Moses, like me, makes every excuse in the book for why not. Yet, Yahweh keeps gently nudging.
4:21 "I will harden his heart...." Yet, I don't think God hardens anyone's heart. Humans are pretty talented at being stubborn and resistant. Hardeneing of the arteries is a natural consequence.
