Acts begins with the ascension of Jesus. What does ascension really mean? It is a doctrine about the disappearance of Jesus. Everybody disappears. So why was it so different when Jesus did? What would I have observed had I been a human living at that time? I think I would have observed how different Jesus was from the average Joe, how when he was near I felt empowered. I would have seen him do and say things that no one else dared to do or say. Then, even after they crucified him, he, in some way, was still present. Then, after the final disappearance, there was still an indescribable presence which still empowered me to be better and do more. This lasting mark would be called ascension, an ascending that took Jesus to the Father and humans to another level of consciousness. We would never be the same.
