Chapter 14 outlines the believers’ relation to the glorified Christ. Access to God is solely through Jesus. Knowledge of God is solely through the person, words, and works of Jesus Greater works will be done be the believers through prayer, obedience, and the Holy Spirit. The Spirit imparts Christ’s life and unites the believer to God. Fellowship with Christ is dependent on love which issues in obedience. The Holy Spirit interprets Christ’s teachings, and imparts his peace. To go to the Father meant Jesus’ self-chosen conflict with the ruler of this world, whose power would be broken by death and resurrection. Fellowship with Jesus is dependent on obeying his command to love.
