Day 307 John 4-5

Day 307 John 4-5

1 comment:

  1. Chapter 4 begins with the discourse with a Samaritan woman. The story of the healing of a paralytic has several “Johannine” characteristics. Jesus performs his sign on his own initiative and his peculiar knowledge of men. He chooses one of many possible subjects of his saving action, in this case a sick man of little initiative himself and of less gratitude. The story sets the scene for the discourse on the Sabbath. The issue between Jesus and the Jews shifts from the Sabbath observance to decision about the person of Jesus, who identifies himself with the Father.
