Day 314 John 18-19

Day 314 John 18-19

  1. Jesus is arrested and has an informal trial, designed to indict him for training disciples secretly as revolutionaries. He is sent to Caiaphas who had given counsel to the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the praetorium. Pilate went out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” Pilate wanted the Jews to judge him by their own law. However, the Jews charged Jesus with political treason and handed him over to Rome. In the questioning Pilate asks the highly philosophical question, ”What is truth?” Pilate found Jesus innocent of political insurrection but gave way to the whim of the crowd and released him to be crucified. Joseph of Arimathea took his body and buried him in the garden in a tomb where no one had every been laid.
