Day 338 Galations 1-3

  1. John Dominic Crossan in In Search of Paul writes “Compare, for example, Galations 2:26, “We know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, with Romans 3:28, “We hold that person is justified by faith apart from works prescribed by the law.” Was the Jewish Paul rejecting his native Judaism by attacking it frontally in his letters to the Galations and the Romans?...It was, actually, not a two-way but a three-way argument, with a God worshiper or pagan sympathizer between Paul and his fellow Jews…Paul’s antithesis of faith versus works stands on that delicate interface between valid apologetic argument for a Christian to a God-worshiper and invalid polemical argument from a Jew to a fellow Jew.”
