Day 146 Job 9-12

Day 146 Job 9-12

1 comment:

  1. Job continues to speak of unjust treatment and engages God in a legal contest. Aware of the gap between God and man he requests an umpire. He heightens his complaint and questions “Why did you bring me forth from the womb?” Zophar insists that Job must have sinned and needs to repent. On the one hand he claims that no one can understand the ways of God. On the other hand he presumes to know the exact mathematical formula that God uses to dispense justice. Job dismisses the self-righteous Zophar. He stands in hope, the hope born in despair, not in optimistic platitudes. And, Job, more so than Zophar, knows how hard it is to understand God. He sits in the dark night of the soul with full knowledge of who he is and Whose he is.
