Day 119 - 1 Chronicles 14-16

Day 119 - 1 Chronicles 14-16

1 comment:

  1. The Chronicler expands 2 Samuel to include David’s dealings with Hiram king of Tyre, additions to the royal household and wars with the Philistines. Here David has the idol gods of the Philistines burned. The additional material includes elaborate plans for bringing the ark to Jerusalem in which the Levites play the dominant role. The Levites carry the ark; bands of Levitical singers and musicians accompany the procession and the Levites sacrifice seven bullocks and seven rams. The ark is successfully transferred to Jerusalem and into the tent which David has pitched for it. The Levites are now appointed by David to minister before the ark with praise and thanksgiving. The Chronicler assures the Levites a legitimate place among the temple personnel. Two holy places are mentioned, Jerusalem and Gibeon.
