Jerusalem, not Gibeon, is the true center of worship. The Chronicler stresses David’s(not Solomon’s as recorded in 1 Kings) preparations in building the temple; building materials, instructions to Solomon, request to leaders of Israel for help. Solomon, the peaceful man, builds the temple, not David, the warrior, who is ritually unclean for the task. The temple is priceless in value. The Levites no longer have to carry the tabernacle. Their main work now is to assist the Aaronic priests in the temple services.
