Again we have slight variations on 2 Samuel’s version of David. Instead of “your(David’s) house and your kingdom” in 2 Samuel, the Chronicler writes “my (God’s) house and my kingdom” showing the writer’s idea that David is ruler over God’s kingdom. The Chronicler lists all the successful encounters with the Philistines, Moabites, Zobah, Damascus, Edom, Ammonites, Syrians. He omits any story that does not fit the idealized figure of David. Elhanan slew Lahmi, the brother of Goliath. Thus the Chronicler solves the contradiction between 1 Samuel(David killed Goliath) and 2 Samuel(Elhanan killed Goliath).
