Day 187 Proverbs 17-19

Day 187 Proverbs 17-19

  1. Chapter 17 speaks to the value of grandchildren and friendship. Again we are cautioned about the control and economy of speech. The fool always lives for that which is to come while the wise lives in the enjoyment of the present moment. Chapter 18 speaks to the value of marriage and friendship. One close friend is better than a multitude of casual and uncertain acquaintances. In fact, it seems to me that friendship may bring people closer together than kinship. Unless a blood relationship is founded on a deep sharing of common purpose and upon more than the accident of birth, it cannot have the same meaning as a cherished friendship. Chapter 19 notes that a man’s life can be made miserable by a bad son but a good wife is the gift from the Lord.
