Day 186 Proverbs 14-16

Day 186 Proverbs 14-16

1 comment:

  1. Great responsibility comes with being the Chosen People to receive the Torah. Chapter 14 reminds these chosen ones of their responsibility to care for the poor, a religious duty. They have come to an awareness of the spirit-body connection. Tranquility and cheerfulness promotes health while passions such as anger and fear produce sickness. Jesus will likewise teach the poisonous nature of anger and transforming power of love, the opposite of fear. Chapter 15 continues with more psychosomatic proverbs and cautions about the proper use of speech. Think before you speak! Chapter 16, written before the fall of the monarchy, says that part of the king’s task is to enforce God’s demands for honesty and justice. Special emphasis is laid on the misuse of speech through unkind gossip, enticement to evil ways, and hypocrisy. Gray hair is a sign of wisdom and a badge of pride!
